Philosophy:

Learn to do by doing.

History:

The D'arcy 4-H club was established in 1975 by Shirley Pietila, who, over the years established it into one of the largest and most diverse 4-H clubs in B.C.  Members in the club reside in D'arcy, Devine, Birken, Mt.Currie and Pemberton.  In past years the club travelled to Port Alberni, to compete in the annual fall fair, with a convoy of trucks and trailers, hauling everything from beef, sheep, swine, poultry to rabbits and cavy. The ferry trip was always worth while for awards the children won in the shows and the good time they had at the fair.

Some of todays members are the sons and daughters of the original members. Today the club has evolved from livestock projects to more "pet" projects, such as dogs, rabbits, llamas, horses, and non animal projects such as photography.  The club participates in a number of the local community's events, like Winterfest, the Canada Day parade, and Equifest, and attends the Chilliwack Country Fair to compete with other 4-H clubs with their projects. The club fundraises, but also depends on the generous support of sponsors, which enables them to travel to annual competitions.

Thank you to our Sponsors.
